All the healing goodness

CURIOUS TO KNOW ALL THE JUICY BENEFITS OF OUR INFRARED SAUNAS?

Infrared saunas operate much differently from traditional saunas, as a traditional sauna raises the temperature of the air around you to warm the body. Infrared saunas use panels to penetrate body tissues, cells and organs with more slow and direct heating. This creates a much more gentle and comfortable approach than the traditional saunas, but with even higher benefits making it a sweet and potent place for your self-care practice.

detoxification -

Coming into your sunday mood session, the infrared rays gently heat the body and increases the core temperature from within. This allows for a deeper penetration to a cellular level, making your body disperse and release heavy metals and toxins, assisting in a deep detoxification during your sweat.

weight loss -

Infrared saunas have many weight loss benefits due to their ability to raise the body's core temperature, increase metabolism and provide an effective way of removing toxins and impurities from the body.
The body sweats in an infrared sauna, enabling it to get rid of unused fluids which is beneficial for weight loss. Additionally, an increase in calorie burn through accelerated metabolism provides weight loss benefits as well.

skin healing -

Infrared saunas have been shown to stimulate both collagen and elastin production, which significantly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in your skin. And oh, how we love that post-sauna glow!
As the dermis and epidermis skin layers are healed with infrared therapy, you will experience skin renewal, wound healing and tissue growth helping to restore your radiance. Sweating also improves blood circulation and will help unblock pores and reduce blemishes.

stress relief -

Our 45-minute sessions will quickly become your favourite way to slow down during a busy week as it helps you to tap into a state of deep presence and relaxation. Infrared Saunas help to lower the level of cortisol in the body, the chemical associated with stress and tension. Sitting in an infrared sauna causes your endorphins to be released, which is your body's natural pain medicine

nervous system regulation -

Sweating and relaxing in an infrared sauna can help reset the nervous system, and give your adrenal glands a much-needed break. This is because you’re actively helping to restore control to the parasympathetic nervous system, or your ‘rest and digest’ mode, by tuning into a deeper relaxed state of being.

recovery -

Infrared saunas have, for decades, been used for relieving aches, muscle and joint pain as well as aiding in speeding up muscle recovery after an injury. The light emitted in infrared sauna therapy penetrates deep below the skin's surface. This provides access to the muscle tissue stressed during strength training sessions. One of the primary "toxins" created with strength training is lactic acid. If excess lactic acid is not reduced, sore muscles result. Increasing blood flow to the muscle decreases this likelihood.

deep sleep -

As you start to feel your muscles relaxing, your shoulders unclenching and your body winding down you will also start to notice the positive effects this will have on your sleeping patterns as well as your overall quality of sleep. The production of melatonin, also known as the ‘sleep hormone’ is also stimulated during your sauna session.

immune boosting -

Infrared saunas strengthen your immune system by increasing white blood cell production, triggering the immune system, releasing impurities, improving blood circulation, regenerating cells, and promoting relaxation.
As your core body temperature is slowly rising during your sweat it helps to fight off viruses and infections that can’t survive under these temperatures.

Chromotherapy

... AND WHY WE ADORE IT OH SO MUCH

Chromotherapy, also known as LED color light therapy, helps take your healing to the next level as it uses your body’s natural response to color to restore balance within. Color light therapy is based on the idea that each color will promote a different bodily response. This means that when you’re combining chromotherapy with an infrared sauna, you can customize the vibration frequencies to your specific wellness or healing goals. Each color contributes to a different aspect of wellness.

Ice Bath

... AND WHY THEY MAKE US FEEL SO GOOD

Using an infrared sauna will help you tap into a bunch of health benefits, but did you know that combining an ice bath sequentially can unlock even more positive physiological impacts on your body and mind? This is because the concept works on the dilation and constriction of the blood vessels which happen during cold and heat therapy. The dilation and constriction of the blood vessels help further reduce swelling, and inflammation, improve circulation, lift your mood and improve mental health.

Ice baths are perfectly safe for you when done correctly. We recommend slowly submerging your body into the ice bath to not shock your system. Deep breaths to stay calm and grounded and don’t soak for longer than fifteen minutes. Ice bathing for longer than fifteen minutes increases your risk of hypothermia and frostbite. An ice bath has a number of healing benefits such as:

recovery & pain relief -

As you immerse yourself in cold water, your blood vessels constrict and when you enter the sauna, they dilate. This helps reduce muscle inflammation, swelling, and achiness, and flush out any built-up lactic acid in the body. Your blood flow naturally increases sending more oxygen to your cells helping your body to recover faster. A beautiful treatment to give your body in between workouts or long surfing sessions.

stimulates central nervous system -

Cold water immersion can be helpful to the central nervous system resulting in better pain management, as your body naturally decreases its sensitivity to painful stimuli. This will in turn make your body feel more energized. Cold water therapy can have positive effects on those dealing with neurological disorders such as sciatica, Guillain-Barre syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, brain trauma, and even migraine.

immune system -

By taking a cold plunge the number of white blood cells in your body naturally increases and protects you against diseases. This is also related to an increased metabolic rate, which in turn stimulates the immune response.

increased metabolism -

As the ice bath is significantly colder than your body's average core temperature, it causes an increase in the brown adipose tissue in the body, which is responsible for converting energy into heat to keep the body warm. This creates a metabolic boost and can therefore be a good tool for maintaining weight.

mental health -

We can not talk enough about the benefits that a cold plunge can have for your mental health and general brain function. Cold water therapy has been shown to be an effective supplemental treatment for both anxiety and depression by decreasing the stress hormone cortisol. After the initial “shock” of stepping into an ice-cold tub of water, many people experience an elevated mood. This is likely due to the release of endorphins, hormones that act as natural painkillers, which have been shown to improve mood and reduce stress.
